Washington D.C., May 29, 2025 - In a heartfelt ceremony, the Liberian Studies Association (LSA) of the USA honored Ambassador Al-Hassan Conteh, the Ambassador of Liberia to the United States of America, for his past, significant contributions as President of the Liberian Studies Association and former editor of the Liberian Studies Journal.

As the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) prepares for the next round of elections of members for non-permanent seats in June 2025, member states must recognize and empower the Republic of Liberia, which has historically demonstrated its commitment to peace, security, and cooperation. With its long and rich history of contributions to global affairs, Liberia is uniquely positioned to assume a non-permanent seat on the UNSC.

Today, we commemorate Unification Day, a powerful reminder of our nation's challenging past and its ongoing journey toward unity and peace. As we reflect on our history, let us honor the sacrifices of our ancestors who dedicated themselves to bringing our nation together.
In celebrating this significant occasion, I urge all Liberians, both in the Diaspora and at home, to join hands with the Government of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. in its steadfast commitment to improving the standard of living for all citizens.

Washington D.C. May 9, 2025. - On Wednesday, May 6, 2025, a significant meeting between Prince George's County Council woman Wala Blegay, leaders of the Liberian Community Association (LCA) of the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) area, and Ambassador Dr. Al-Hassan Conteh took place at Washington, D.C. Mission. The discussions highlighted mutual support and development initiatives crucial for socio-economic advancement within Liberia.

Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Sara Beysolow Nyanti, has officially launched the Government Town Hall Initiative under the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT), styled “Kapa Kulono” a Kpelleh phrase meaning “Come Let’s Talk It.” The launch took place under the theme: “Smart Spending, Shared Growth: Building an Inclusive Liberia Under the AAID,” held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at the EJS Ministerial Complex.

On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Liberia’s Foreign Minister H.E. Sara Beysolow Nyanti received Ambassador-designate of Barbados, Juliette Bynoe-Sutherland, who presented copies of her Letter of Credence, ahead of her presentation of Letters of Credence to His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., President of Liberia.
Foreign Minister Nyanti said this moment represents more than formality; it is a reaffirmation of the historic and enduring relationship between Liberia and Barbados.

Washington DC. April 25, 2025. Liberia's Ambassador to the U.S., His Excellency, Dr. Al-Hassan Conteh has congratulated the leadership of the Liberian Studies Association (LSA) for keeping aloft the ideals of the organization over the years. The Ambassador recounted how he became part of the first generation of indigenous Liberians trained to take over the leadership of the LSA many years ago.
