Washington DC, June 21, 2024: The Dean of the Liberian Cabinet and Foreign Minister of Liberia, Her Excellency Sara Beysolow Nyanti visits Washington DC on Monday, June 24, 2024, to hold talks with top US government officials. The meetings are crucial for strengthening bilateral relations between Liberia and the US., as well as attracting much-needed private direct foreign investment to Liberia.

Minister Beysolow-Nyanti is expected to hold talks with ranking members of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee. She is also looking forward to meeting with Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Mary Catherine Molly Phee as well as representatives from the Department of Defense, Office of Foreign Assets Control and USAID among others. These discussions are aimed at fostering understanding and collaboration between the two nations for mutual benefit. The Minister will focus on building partnerships that would lead to positive outcomes for both Liberia and the United States.

One of the key meetings on Minister Beysolow-Nyanti's agenda in DC is with the Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Alice Albright. The two will discuss ways to leverage the corporation's resources to support development initiatives in Liberia, with a focus on good governance, rule of law, infrastructure, and economic growth. The Minister is impressed by Albright's commitment to fostering sustainable progress in developing countries and looks forward to working closely with her.

Before her meetings in Washington DC, Minister Beysolow-Nyanti will travel to Atlanta, Georgia, on Monday, June 21, to continue her discussions on attracting private direct foreign investment. She will also travel to Detroit Michigan to hold meetings with major stakeholders. These follow-up meetings stem from the US-Africa Business Summit and the visit of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai in May 2024. The Minister will work tirelessly to showcase the potential of Liberia as a favorable investment destination and highlight the opportunities available for interested investors.

With the upcoming 79th UN General Assembly on the horizon, Minister Beysolow-Nyanti will travel to New York on Wednesday, June 26 to solidify arrangements for Liberia's participation. The Minister will also hold discussions on the Summit of the Future and the Liberia Diaspora Conference scheduled for September 2024. These events are crucial for engaging with stakeholders on global issues and harnessing the talents and resources of the Liberian diaspora for the country's development.
