Press ReleaseLiberia And U.S. Business Summit to be held March 30
Washington, D.C. – 3/19/12: A one-day business summit, which is expected to bring together high-level Liberian Government officials, American and Liberian investors and entrepreneurs, will to take place on Friday, March 30, 2012 in Atlanta, GA.
The Vice President of Liberia, His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, will open the Business Summit, which will convene from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Robert W. Woodruff Library, Atlanta University Center, located at 111 James P. Brawley Dr., SW, Atlanta, GA. The summit will be co-hosted by Clark Atlanta University.
Several Liberian government officials and representatives of private corporations will make presentations at the Liberia and U.S. Business Summit 2012, being held under the theme, “Liberia: Investor’s Paradise.” They include:
Hon. Miata Beysolow, Minister of Commerce and Industry, will speak on the topic, “Import and Export Opportunities; How to Open up a Business in Liberia.”
The Chairman of the National Investment Commission, Hon. O. Natty B. Davis, will speak on the topic, “Supply Linkages to the Mining, Forestry, and Oil Concessions; Contracting Opportunities with the Government and Other Entities.”
Nadeem Anwar, Social Performance Team Leader of Chevron will speak on “Chevron’s Social Investment Program in Liberia.”
The Managing Director of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Corporation, Hon. T. Nelson Williams, will speak on “Petroleum and Refinery Opportunities” in Liberia.
The Acting Mayor of the Monrovia City Corporation, Hon Mary T. Broh, will speak on the topic, “Water, Waste Disposal and Sanitation; Energy and Housing in Monrovia.”
There will also be a panel discussion involving representatives of the Liberia Chamber of Commerce on various areas of investment possibilities in Liberia, including Commodities, Petroleum Import, Energy, General Merchandise, Import and Export, Construction, Heavy Machinery, Cement Import, and Tourism.
The Business Summit is open to the general public. Registration fee is $75 per person and late registration fee is $100.
The Liberia and U.S. Business Summit 2012 is being co-sponsored by the Liberian Government and several U.S. entities, including the Global Strategies for Good; Georgia Ports Authority; Delta Airlines; Chevron, Barnes and Thornburg, LLP; Coca Cola; J. Lane Media; and NCBW 100.
