Washington, D.C. – March 7, 2017: A farewell reception for outgoing was held today for outgoing U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield. The jam-packed and impressive event, hosted by the State Department Bureau of African Affairs, was attended by a large number of African Ambassadors and diplomats, and corporate executives concerned with Africa, among others.  Speaking at the event, the Dean of the African Ambassadors Group paid homage to Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield, during whose tenure, relations between Africa and the United States were further strengthened through various categories of partnerships.For her part, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield spoke of her optimism for Africa’s future, imploring African leaders to institute policies and programs intended to uplift their people, especially the youth and women.The Embassy of Liberia was represented by Hon. Gabriel I H Williams, Minister Counselor for Press and Public Affairs, who is temporarily serving as acting Chief of Mission, and Hon.
