Ambassador Sulunteh in Canada; GlobalMedic Sends Second Shipment to Liberia to Combat Ebola

Washington, D.C. – October 16, 2014: GlobalMedic, a humanitarian aid organization based in Canada, has loaded its second consignment of medical supplies to be shipped to Liberia to help in the fight against the Ebola outbreak in that country.The several containers of Ebola relief medical supplies intended for Liberia is estimated to cost $635,000 Canadian dollars.The supplies are destined for the S.D.A. Cooper Hospital in Monrovia, with which GlobalMedic has a partnership. Liberia’s Ambassador to the United States, Canada and Mexico, H.E. Jeremiah C. Sulunteh, attended a loading ceremony at the GlobalMedic warehouse in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada on October 15, 2014. Among those at the ceremony were the Lieutenant Governor,
Elizabeth Dowdeswell; Rahul Singh, head of GlobalMedic; a student who raised $11,000 at her school to donate to GlobalMedic; and members of the Liberian community leadership in Canada.  As a result of an appeal from Ambassador Sulunteh to Mr. Singh, GlobalMedic airlifted 10 pallets of isolation tents, PPE and essential medicines to the S.D.A. Cooper Hospital in Monrovia in September. A GlobalMedic team also provided training to local health partners at S.D.A. Cooper Hospital.
