Ambassador Sulunteh Attends Inauguration of Brazilian President, Dilma

Liberia’s Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Jeremiah C. Sulunteh represented President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf at the 2nd term inauguration of President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil on January 1, 2015.The impressive inauguration ceremonies were attended by heads of state and governments of several countries, including President John D. Mahama of Ghana and U.S. Vice President Joe Biden. In her inaugural address, President Rousseff said her government’s foreign policy will be matched by the defense of democracy and global expectation in keeping with the will of the Brazilian people.Among other highlights of the visit, Ambassador Sulunteh met with the Brazilian Under Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Paulo Cordeiro De Andrade Pinto, during which the need to further strengthen the bilateral relations between both countries was discussed.Issues discussed during the meeting included how Brazil could assist in Liberia’s post-Ebola recovery, highlighting areas of needs such as health-sector reform, agriculture and food security, and education.The discussion between Ambassador Sulunteh and the Brazilian Under Secretary underscored the long-standing relationship and mutual support between Liberia and Brazil.
